Matamata Swap Meet

Yahoo sunny day at the Mount – that was to be short lived as we head off to Tauriko, where we meet up and head over the hill to Matamata. Pat had text Rox as we were leaving and she had suggested we bring gumboots and a tow rope.

Sure enough once we got on the Kaimai’s the weather looked like to middle of winter with drizzle and thick fog. Thank goodness the fog cleared on the other side.

We thought we had arrived, but our wise leader (Deano) drove straight passed the entrance, with some following like sheep and some turning around. Wonder who should get the fine here Deano or those that followed???

Gumboots would have definitely been handy as the driveway and paddocks were very muddy. They also had recently moved the cows out of the paddock where the Swap meet was held leaving lovely fresh cow pats for us, and even though some one had labelled it, a certain someone still stood in it. Do we recognize this foot – Pat!!!

Most of us brave the weather for a wander around the Swap meet with umbrellas in hand to check out the bargains. All except for Christine who decided it was better to sit in Chris’s Mercury and read a book. “It needs to be back by Tuesday” was her reasoning.  I fine here I think? Once we check out the Swap meet the boys could be found gossiping and the girls discussing where we were going for food. Somehow this seems the wrong way around!!

So it was decided food and something to drink at the Brown Cow Pub was in order and off we went.  Once feed and watered everyone headed home at their own leisure. Some departed leaving a cloud of smoke behind – wonder who??? - Ssshhh don’t tell Claire!!!
