Nostalgia Drags 2011

Well flopped into bed at 5:30pm Monday and got 14 hours sleep and I'm still shattered what an awesome Nostalgia Drags and Club Champs weekend!!

Friday was setup day, everyone setup their abodes for the next few nights, some in tents, some in campervans, caravans or simply the back of their cars.  It was awesome to see so many members and friends turn up to help setup the marquees, fridges, BBQ's etc etc etc the list goes on. But I was a little concerned when our Aussie friend Marcus who completely misunderstood what was going on and thought it was pole dancing competition, stick to the racing Marcus.

When Bay Rodders weren't working, as usual they had no difficulty entertaining themselves, it was lovely to see Cam helping Kim put her racing tyres on, Den finding his Coruba corner finally, and others just letting off steam racing around on the little Red Phantom Wagon.

After a good night sleep, it was up with the sparrows and onto Club Champ racing, a special mention has to go to Bay Rodders members Kim Poynton and Lisa Sawyer for doing us proud as drag racing virgins, well done girls!!! ...

Congratulations to the days winners, and particularly the trophy going to the Te Awamutu team, (when the results come to me I shall add them to the web) ....

That night we were entertained with a fantastic cackle fest on the track, and then dinner and dancing to an awesome band "Al Dawson Band", again Bay Rodders entertained the crowd with their table dancing and singing skills, then lights off at 11 and a good nights sleep ready for racing Nostalgia Drags the next day....

At lunch there was a tribute to "PK" a famous man in Hot Rodding who has passed away. The tribute was a T-Bucket parade on the track, with PK's ashes being blown over the track.  A big thanks to Buck and Smithy for putting me in a harness and raising me up on the Fire Truck ladder to take these shots ....

...I must admit it's the highest I've ever been up a ladder before, and one of the few times no one could hear me  ...

After the lunch time entertainment it was straight back into racing...

I shall post results as soon as I receive them but here are some of the shots from the Nostalgia Drags prize giving ... congratulations to all the winners ....

Then it was time to party down as our President Deano celebrated his 50th birthday and our lovely Pat celebrated his 60th birthday...

A big thank you to all those who participated in Club Champs and the Bay Rodders Nostalgia Drags 2011.  Special thanks to all the Sponsors, the Aussie crews, the clubs like the American Muscle Car Club who supported this event and everyone who attended or was involved and to the winners.  It was an awesome weekend, roll on Nostalgia Drags 2012!!!   Cathi
