Bay Rodders 2011 News Street Machines and Customs Anniversary Bash Despite predictions by Jim and the One weather team, Saturday the 24th September was clear blue skies – perfect for the Street Machines and Customs Anniverary Bash, Tauranga. Bay Rodders meet at Bay Park and cruised their way to Brewers Bar, New ton Road 10am via Hull Road lead by Grant Forlong in his HOTPOP.
Street Machine and Customs knew Bay Rodders were coming to the event, and especially left the entire center row area free for Bay Rodder cars to line up – thanks guys, that was awesome! So we parked 18 Bay Rodder cars in a row, with a further four cars around the perimeter, and set the Bay Rodders flag flying.
Speaking of those parked in the perimeter, our newest Bay Rodder member ha d his orange bucket parked up with an orange boat “Orange Roughy” on the back? Some members think that’s a fine, but really it’s a Ford, at least it’s good for something.
After parking up it was time to register and woof down the free registration sausage for breakfast. The morning went so quickly as we caught up with members and friends, and made new friends; a shout out to Les the proud new owner of a 69 Pontiac Firebird “A69R” who showed his car for the first time at this event. It was nice listening to the live music, viewing the merchandise in the stalls, and of course wondering around the awesome collection of cars on display. About 1pm the auction began with auction items ranging from two nights away at any South Pacific Hotel, which was won by Fingrz so a dirty weekend up coming up soon from Fingrz and Andi – Track Apparel, to a night in Whitianga, to boat trips, tools, t-shirts, Mother’s products, blender, oil etc. It was great watching people getting caught up in the bidding, and many cases exceeding retail but just having fun and getting caught up in the moment. Following the auction was the prize giving as follows…
After the prize giving everyone went their own way but no the Bay Rodders; oh no we had to cruise so off to the Mount we cruised and parked up a main beach, said our good byes and did a parting final cruise through The Stand and then home to cuddle up on the sofa, with a blankie, and get ready to watch the AB’s vs FRANCE match tonight. Thanks Street Machines and Customs for a great day and thanks from all Bay Rodders for the Best Club Presented prize we will all enjoy the bar tab... Cathi and Dennis
